Police said Stubblefield, 45, sexually assaulted a developmentally disabled woman in April 2015 at his home in Morgan Hill, Calif., where she had been asked to come to interview for a babysitter job. The woman, 31 years old at the time, reported the incident to police immediately.

Stubblefield was booked into jail on five felony counts Monday following a 13-month investigation. Bail was set at $250,000.

“This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim,” Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerny said in a statement. “She was looking for a job and she was unconscionably assaulted.”

An 11-year NFL veteran, Stubblefield was a three-time Pro Bowler with the 49ers and was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year with a career-high 15 sacks in 1997. He also spent time with the Redskins and Raiders. 

Stubblefield, a first-round pick out of the University of Kansas, recorded 53.5 sacks and 352 tackles in his career. He had one Super Bowl win, with the 49ers in the 1994 season.
